The German customer required a custom 1.5L plastic bottle for paint packaging. The expected volume was substantial from the start, exceeding 10 high-cube containers. At this scale, the mold had to support stable mass production rather than only produce visually acceptable samples.
Before production was confirmed, bottle dimensions, structural details, cap matching, and manufacturing feasibility had to be aligned. Drawings were reviewed and translated into a production-ready mold design.
The first mold was completed and trial samples were produced. The customer was prepared to accept the initial bottle, but the result still left room for improvement in the factory’s assessment.
For a large-volume project, small deviations can become recurring production issues. Chengpin Technology therefore decided that the project should not proceed on a merely acceptable basis. The mold solution needed to be more suitable for repeatable production and future orders.
A second set of 1.5L bottle tooling was developed without transferring the additional mold cost to the customer. The expense was absorbed by Chengpin Technology as part of the project improvement process.
The objective was to remove the remaining concerns identified during the first trial and to deliver a bottle that could be approved with confidence for large-volume production. This required additional engineering work, new trial production, and repeated communication between the customer and the factory.
Custom mold development rarely depends on one parameter. Bottle appearance, dimensions, wall distribution, neck and cap fit, handling requirements, and mass-production stability all need to be considered together.
During this project, details were refined through several rounds of discussion and verification. Feedback from the customer was incorporated into the tooling and production process. Samples were checked again before the final version was confirmed.
The revised 1.5L bottle reached the customer’s required standard after the second mold and subsequent adjustments. The project was then positioned for the planned large-volume supply covering more than 10 high-cube containers.
