Food grade plastics are increasingly being used by people because they are environmentally friendly, healthy, and safe to use. It's also reassuring to use it to hold food items, but everyone can't distinguish the difference between PP plastic buckets and PE plastic buckets, and they don't know which one to choose. Let's take a look together!
PE is polyethylene, PP is polypropylene.
Polyethylene is odorless, non-toxic, and feels like wax. It has excellent low-temperature resistance (with a minimum operating temperature of -70~-100 ℃), good chemical stability, and can withstand most acid-base erosion. It is insoluble in general solvents at room temperature and has low water absorption. However, due to its linear nature, it can slowly dissolve in certain organic solvents without swelling, and has excellent electrical insulation performance; But polyethylene is very sensitive to environmental stress (chemical and mechanical effects) and has poor heat aging resistance.

Polypropylene also includes copolymers of propylene and a small amount of ethylene. Usually a semi transparent colorless solid, odorless and non-toxic. Due to its regular structure and high degree of crystallization, it has a melting point of up to 167 ℃, is heat-resistant, and can be sterilized by steam, which is its outstanding advantage. Density of 0.90g/cm3, it is the lightest universal plastic. Corrosion resistance, tensile strength of 30MPa, better strength, rigidity, and transparency than polyethylene.

Food grade plastics PP and PE are both very good, and whether they are good or not mainly depends on their uses. If it is used as a water cup or dining box, PP is better because the characteristic of this material is high temperature resistance. PE material has better flexibility and impact resistance than PP material, but its high temperature resistance is not as good as PP material. Therefore, when using PP plastic products, food and water with a temperature exceeding 70 degrees Celsius should not be placed. If the temperature is too high, it will produce certain toxins. Moreover, the transparency of plastic products made of PP material is much better than that of PE material.
